Town Council Supports Mediation Charity
Since 1988, Milton Keynes Community Mediation Services (MKCMS) have been settling disputes between neighbours, coworkers and other parties throughout the city. They provide an essential free service, largely run by volunteers, to settle disputes impartially. This work can often diffuse situations that would otherwise have got out of hand, to the benefit of everybody involved.
MKCMS have had much of their funding cut recently, leaving this important service at risk. CMK Town Council, as part of our grants programme, has therefore awarded MKCMS a grant to help them continue providing the work they do in CMK. Part of this work included holding a mediation awareness seminar in Intu:MK, which aimed to make people aware of the option of mediation and the success it can have in diffusing situations.
MKCMS are currently looking for volunteer mediators to begin training next year. If you think you’d be interested, please see the poster to the right for more details.
