11am – 12noon: Velorama (2014)
Documentary looking at a century of cycling. Commissioned to mark the arrival of the 2014 Tour de France in Yorkshire, the film makes full use of stunning British Film Institute footage to transport the audience on a journey from the invention of the modern bike, through the rise of recreational cycling, to gruelling competitive races.
1 – 1.45pm: Family Friendly Cartoons
More short films and animations for the whole family to enjoy, including two episodes of Mr Bean.
2 – 3.10pm: Jour de Fête
In his enchanting debut feature, Jacques Tati stars as a fussbudget of a postman who is thrown for a loop when a traveling fair comes to his village. Even in this early work, Tati was brilliantly toying with the devices (silent visual gags, minimal yet deftly deployed sound effects) and exploring the theme (the absurdity of our increasing reliance on technology) that would define his cinema.
Want to Take Part?
We are looking for stall-holders and cyclists who can help generate the electricity to power the cinema. Please contact rachel@ic-mk.org for more information.
