IF: Milton Keynes International Festival starts opens on Friday 20 July and runs to Sunday 29 July for 10 Amazing Days. Events take place at locations across the city centre, in Campbell Park and also at Linford Manor Park, at The Stables in Wavendon and West Bletchley. This summer, MK Gallery’s Project Space will be transformed into a youth hub through The Secret Self(ie) Project. From 25 July to 30 August, teenagers aged 13 to 18 will have the opportunity to take over this space and work alongside cutting edge artists, musicians and inspiring youth mentors to create a series of events or exhibitions. The Parks Trust, the self-financing charity that organises and enables over 500 events every year, is preparing for its annual World Picnic extravaganza on Sunday. Video artist Sapphire Goss will show a selection of short films that show her techniques of exploring, shooting and layering footage to create dreamlike compositions. Also shown will be a series of short films inspired by Milton Keynes, developed by workshop participants who have been working with Sapphire using these techniques throughout the day.
